Does anyone know what is the biological cause of yawning? I was just talking to my co-worker and I swear I was yawning every 3 minutes. and these weren't just little yawns--these were the kind that make your eyes scrunch up and make them water. It was really kind of embarassing. I was enjoying talking to her but it sure didn't look like it.
I thought it was something about white blood cells not carrying enough oxygen or something. But I can't remember now. I just know that recently I have been having yawning fits, and it makes me think that maybe something is funny inside me. Maybe I'm forgetting to breathe or something like that and the yawning is compensating? I know people don't really forget to breathe but you know what I mean.
Any info anyone can provide would be awesome. Also, I'm wondering if anyone yawned while reading this--since it is contagious ;-) maybe just reading about it will make you yawn?

I think you might need more iron - at least that's what Em keeps telling me! And yes, I think it is about the brain trying to get more oxygen, and iron helps the red blood cells carry oxygen to the brain. Thanks for the call yesterday, Liz. It was great to talk to you. You're so on top of things!
YYYYAAAAAWWWWWNNNNN!!!!!!
I definitely did! Actually a couple of times...because I'm a slow reader :)
Ah, the power of suggestion.
