While I was away in Florida, our car broke. A light went on in the dashboard which basically means that our battery isn't re-charging itself when we drive the car. Luckily, David was able to get the car back to our house before it konked out. So, we are on a mission. Find a car and buy it...soon.
We actually went to a Toyota dealership last night to look at the Matrix and the Corolla. We can't decide. the matrix is really practical with all its cargo room, and would make trips to home depot easier. But, david doesn't like the way it looks, and it doesn't get as good of gas mileage as the corolla. Also, since it is fairly new, there are only a few years of reliability rankings for it. The Corolla comes highly recommended from Consumer reports and gets great gas mileage for a non-hybrid car. It has a huge trunk, but might make hauling skis or 2x4's more difficult, even though the seats go down in the back. I think we'll go test drive them tonight.
We also got pre-approved for an auto loan, but I'm not sure if the rate is good or not. Does anyone have a sense of what a good interest rate is for a 48 month auto loan? I want to see what kind of rate we can get at other places too, before we decide to go with this lender.

I love the way the Matrix looks! And you know that I love a hatchback...as I know you do also. But the Corolla is undeniably a fantastic car. I'm not sure the going rate for interest these days, but I have pretty frickin' good credit and got a loan for 6% 2 years ago.
