Well, I figure that this weekend will be our big car shopping weekend. We'll probably do some negotiating and maybe even buy the car. I'm a little worried about the negotiating bit. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about this part of process, but it still scares me. What if I say something wrong? I know that I won't allow them to talk payments or trade-in until we have settled on a price. And since we've been approved elsewhere, we don't have to worry too much about getting screwed on interest rate inflation. But the slimy used car salespeople still kind of scare me. One article I read from consumer reports said that these used car people have all sorts of tricks to get you to let your guard down and re-direct your attention away from the important stuff, so that your decision is based on feelings and gut desire.
I was thinking that I'd have the best negotiating ability when I had PMS and was cranky...but since we can't plan our car buying around that since we don't have a functional car..that won't work. Well, I'll just come armed to the hilt with printouts from online and checklists of questions I want to ask. And, I'll make sure I read everything carefully that they put in front of me. This is the first time I've bought a car... and I'm a little bit scared!
