I mentioned in my post yesterday that I'm reading Lady Chatterley's Lover by D.H. Lawrence. I bought it at the book sale because I had read that he was very pro-women's sexuality, and the feminist in me wanted to read some of his work. So, I expected some degree of openness about sexuality, but not too much, given that it was first published in 1928. But holy cow! This book is so much more explicit than I thought it would be! I mean, it is not pornography by any means; and the words used to discuss sex aren't words people would use now (unless they were in a doctor's office). There are times when I'm reading it on the bus (which is the main place I get time to read), and I get kind of embarrassed about what I'm reading. There is another book that he wrote...I think it is called "Women in Love"; and I'm wondering if it is as explicit as this book. I'm sure it has similar themes--sexual freedom, the importance of instinct over reason, etc.
Anyway, I just had to comment on the book- as it has been very different than I expected it to be.
