Damn, that’s good stuff! Okay… I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but the new Pearl Jam album is outstanding! I’m still assessing its rank amongst the others… perhaps as good as “Vs.”, but not quite a perfect “Ten”. Did everyone go out and get their copy this morning? I was outside of Sonic Boom Records with my nose pressed to the glass at 9:50 AM. At 10:00 AM, when the store opened, it took just three strides before my prize was in hand and one more to the register. I had it unwrapped and ready to load before I was back in the car. I haven’t stopped listening to it since!
FYI… I have never failed to pick up the latest PJ album on its release date. Wait, I take that back. I wasn’t there for the very first album, “Ten”, but definitely every time after that. I’ll always remember scrambling to the record store during my 30-minute lunch break in high school to buy “Vs.” We loaded up the Jimmy with a half-dozen classmates and raced a couple other carloads to the store to be first in town with the new album. My subsequent purchases were much more low-key, I assure you, but nonetheless timely.
This is Pearl Jam’s eighth studio release, and their first for their new label, J Records. The album is self-titled. WARNING: it’s politically charged with roaring songs like “Life Wasted” and “World Wide Suicide” that will not resonate with Right-wingers! But I’m thrilled to hear PJ saying what I, and many other Americans, have been thinking and feeling about this current administration. Thank you, Pearl Jam!
