Swiss Cookies

Here's a glimpse of what I spent part of my weekend doing: Making Bratzeli cookies. These are traditional swiss cookies, made in a pizzelle iron. I got the recipe from one of David's co-workers whose aunt passed this cookie recipe down to her family. They are super yummy, and beautiful to boot. I made a bunch to give to my co-workers at work as a holiday gift.

Here is the Bratzeli or Brazeli close-up (two little dots above the 'a's). They can be made like this, with a sort of snowflake pattern, or with a bit more dough so they have an even round edge.

I made two batches; the cookies you see below are just ONE batch. We've got cookies coming out of our ears!

Another view to show you how thin they are. Very crispy cookies.

I couldn't resist this picture... The mess I made in the process of making the cookies. However, if you look closely, some of this isn't even related to the cookie-making. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing!

Did that Yellowtail on the counter make it into the recipe, too? ;o) All I can say is MAN, I wish my kitchen looked that good after making frozen pizza! (Emily agrees.)
So Liz, you bringin' some with you to KC?

Mel- If I can get David to give some up for the good of the group, I'll definitely be bringing some to KC. I think he'll be sympathetic to the cause ;-)
