Back in the Saddle

I'm back at work today after a whirl-wind 5 days away from work (but doing work stuff).

My meeting with the NSF in D.C. went well.  I did some "networking" at the bar one evening and got some good info on a possible grant opportunity.  Only two things went wrong while in D.C.--my wake up call never happened the day I was supposed to leave D.C. for Boston, and I forgot my travel pillow in my rush to get to the shuttle on time.  It all ended up happy and fine, but it was stressful there for awhile on friday morning (although they still haven't "recovered" my pillow).  Also, the Super Shuttle drivers there in D.C. (I guess I can only say something about-just the two I experienced) are totally unprofessional, and unsafe.  I was scared to be in the van with them.  I'm not sure that a cab would have been better, however.

Boston was great with Em and Mel.  They were wonderful hosts and made me feel very much at home.  I even slept better on their blow up mattress than I had on the bed at the hotel!  Friday night they made a wonderful chicken, vegetable, curry soup, and we just hung out at their place.  It was a good time to catch up with them.  Saturday emily and I braved the cold with hats and gloves to walk the freedom trail in downtown boston.  We did the whole thing.  We didn't always stop at all the "stops", but it was a great way to see Boston.  We had lunch at a wonderful little italian restaurant (caprese salad, tortellini soup, bread w/ oil, and a glass of chianti)  Yum!

After all that walking we went home and took a little nap, then went out to dinner.  It was a great day.  Thanks Emily and Melissa for a great time in Boston!
