barely running

That's right, we will barely have running water for the next few days. We didn't realize that we would be without all of our sinks. The plumber has set up a spigot in the garage with cold water running to it, but that is all we get. I guess washing dishes is out of the question too. And this morning was our last shower in the bathroom for a few weeks, probably.

Last night as we were removing the bathroom sink from the wall, and opening up the drywall around the plumbing, we found something really interesting. In our medicine cabinet, there is a little slot that says "razorblade". David and I always assumed it meant you hung up your razor there so it could dry out or something. Well, that isn't what it was used for. Instead, when we opened up the wall, we found about 50 years worth of razorblades in the wall! I had never heard of such a thing. Why throw used razorblades in your walls? Why not in the garbage? David said there were "thousands" but I will wager there were definitely hundreds in there. It was kind of surreal to see this mound of razorblades that have been hiding in the wall. Maybe the next wall we open up we will find a sack of money?!

There were millions of razorblades!

Turns out the port-a-potty is not too bad, and showering at the gym is no bid deal either. If this working out in the morning and showering at the gym becomes routine, we just might not bother to finish the bathroom and save a bundle of money instead! Or go to Europe!

Hey you guys...such neophytes...
Back in the old days, right after the straight razor and razor strap, I think it was maybe the Gilette company that invented a new razor(not a phone though). As you unscrewed it at the bottom, the top would open in the middle, allowing you to place one of those old double sided razor blades in and screw it back down. This would allow you lots more closer shaves without sharpening the razor. But what to do with them?... you guessed it, every medicine cabinet had one, even the house on Jessup Road!

Love, Mom :-)

They were double sided Gillette razor blades. And they were extremely thin.

Thanks Ellen!

Wow- I had no idea that the Jessup road house had it in the medicine cabinet. Thanks for the education, mom!
