update on maggie

Maggie got more x rays at her appt today. The xrays are going to the radiologist and they will let us know tomorrow what the situation is. The Vet says that she's pretty sure it isn't a bone cancer, but that we may have to take her to a neurologist to find out what is causing all this pain. Then we'll have to figure it out from there. Basically, we don't have any answers yet. They gave her some morphine to make her feel better, but when that wears off hopefully the higher dose of the pain medicine will help. I'll be home tomorrow around noon, so I'll get to spend the afternoon with her.

I have no idea what this is going to cost us, or if we can even afford it. What do you do when you can't afford a $10,000 surgery for your dog? I don't even want to think about it, and until we know more information there is no decision we can make.

I hate for all three of you that Maggie is going through this. B and I are dog lovers and have talked several times about what we'd do if something happened to our dogs. Cedric, Cho, and Prince are family to us, and it would be hard to face a decision on putting a pricetag on what it is that they give to us in companionship, entertainment, security, etc. Our neighbors next door use(d) a lady as their babysitter that did that and delivered pizza alongside her regular day job so that she could pay for her dog's chemo treatments. I hope everything works out great with Maggie. Know that there are a lot of other dog owners that can empathize with your situation, and want nothing but the best for her also.
