I also got to eat at a restaurant I have been wanting to try for awhile. It is called Art of the Table. It is a tiny little space- probably only seats about 15-20 people. Usually it operates as a supper club (Prix Fixe) with one seating per night, but on mondays they have Happy Mondays, during which they offer small plates and cheaper wine and beer etc. Their menu for April 4th had seven main items on it and one dessert. We didn't order the dessert since we had yummy carrot cake waiting for us, but each of the seven items was delicious. We ordered one of each item and they brought them out at a nice relaxed pace. I love good food, so I want to tell you about each of the seven dishes. They print out daily menus so I was able to take it home last night-otherwise I would never have remembered all the ingredients. :)
Toast: chicken liver mousse, pumpernickel, apricot-squash chutney, cocoa nibs.
Lox: salmon gravlax, grapefruit, micro cress, radish
Soup: wild nettle, olive oil
Salad: beet, apple and asian pear, arugula, dinah's camembert, champagne vinaigrette, hazelnuts
Veg: bok choy, cabbage, curnips, orange-miso broth (yes, that's curnips- not turnips)
Fish: herb-crusted halibut, melted greens, fiddleheads, halibut veloute, black truffle
Duck: duck confit and shitake fricasse, mushroom & leek bread pudding, fried egg, sweet potato puree, red wine reduction.
Their dessert, which we did not order was: lemon-orange pound cake, poached pear, basil ice-cream.
It was a wonderful day and I felt so loved. Thanks everyone, for making my birthday full of goodness!
