passed

I'm giving it away with my title, but today I passed my general exam. In my department the general exam is basically a defense of your dissertation proposal. I defended this morning starting at 9:30 am and found out at 11 am that I had passed. They made me step out of the room for their deliberations. They gave me lots of great feedback and I'm looking forward to working on the next steps.

It was very constructive, and I almost wished it could have been longer, given how nice it was to talk about the issues surrounding my project.

So- I am officially a doctoral candidate!
