too dependent

I had an all day meeting today and so I checked email in the morning before I went into it. When I got back tonight I tried to check email in my room, and it wouldn't connect. I felt so deprived that even though I tried to watch TV or read that paper, I couldn't take it and came down to the lobby to use the wireless here. I just think it is sort of sad that I am so dependent on technology and that I feel out of the loop without it.

Don't feel weird or sad. Do you think you would feel weird if you went a whole day without talking?

Email and websites have become a primary source of communication in the modern era. Going without them is akin to taking a vow of silence for the day, week, etc. We only think it is weird because we can remember an era when this type of communication didn't exist.

Embrace the machine. Accept its place as an integral part of your life. "We are the Borg. Resistance is Futile."
