coupon crazy

I've gone coupon crazy. For the past 3 weekends, our neighbor has been out of town, but still receiving the sunday paper. So I've been bringing the paper in and reading it on sunday mornings.

I can give or take reading the paper for the news...I get my news elsewhere...but I've become a sucker for the coupon and sales circulars section. This past week, I saved 22 dollars at the store we usually shop at just by using the coupons I found in the paper. Given, one of them was a coupon for a free turkey if you bought a certain amount of groceries, so that really boosted my average. But I'm pretty sure I saved at least 6 or 7 bucks (otherwise) using coupons. And they were all for things that we use all the time-so I didn't get pulled in the the lure of coupons for things we never use.

It is kind of sad (for someone my age), but fun at the same time. I feel like a discoverer finding new treasures every sunday.

Liz,
Keep cutting those coupons! I took a community 1 hr "class" that showed how much you can save if you really read the fliers & use coupons, buy in bulk, etc. While I don't save as much as this person did-I do well at the grocery. Our Biggs' store is now offering a coupon for .20 off each gallon of gas purchased at our United Dairy Farmers when you buy $100.00 worth of groceries at Biggs'. Well, I usually spend at least that much & the coupon is good for a month. It really helps out. I figured I save about $10.00 a week using coupons-think about how that adds up. Ann
